Following the closure of a middle school pool, the proposal of a brand new indoor pool was brought to the Mitchell city council by the Mitchell Aquatic Club. From there the idea transformed into a facility that would serve both the community and the club's needs. In 2017, Acapulco Pools was awarded the contract for the construction of the City of Mitchell's brand new indoor aquatic facility.  

 

 

Construction of the Mitchell Indoor Aquatic Centre was completed in 2018 under budget and on schedule. Community members gathered in July to celebrate the facilities grand opening and take their first dive into the pool. Designed to be equally suited for recreation and competitive uses, the Mitchell Indoor Aquatic Center features a competition pool and a leisure pool. 
 

 

To be suitable for competitive swimming events, the competition pool is complete with diving boards, starting blocks, a basketball hoop, accessibility lift and a Colorado Timing System. 

 

 

The leisure pool contains warm-up lanes, two water slides, a vortex therapy pool, zip line, play structures and spray features.

 

 

The orange water slide plunge zone drops bathers into the pool at the end of the water slide. Although it is the shorter of the two water slides, the drop adds some suspense into the riders’ hearts before they splash into the water. The blue water slide is the longer of the two and its twists and turns take bathers on an exciting ride outside the building.
