In 2016, Acapulco Pools joined forces with The Atlas Corporation to complete the construction of the new Orillia Recreation Centre. Designed by MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects (MJMA), the $55 million, 132,000 square-foot facility features a number of different amenities including gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, a walking/jogging track, a preschool room, office space, a fitness centre, and an indoor aquatic centre.
Acapulco Pools was responsible for the construction of the indoor aquatic centre featuring a competition pool, leisure pool and therapy pool. Each pool is unique in its own way.
The competition pool includes a Tarzan rope, a climbing wall, touchpad lane timers, and a massive video scoreboard. It also features a movable floor, allowing the facility to maximize the pools potential and increase programming opportunities.
The leisure pool features a lazy river and a variety of spray features increasing the fun factor for swimmers of all ages.
The 40-person therapy pool features seating with jets and grab bars that provide stability for exercising and water therapy. Each pool has a fully accessible ramp entry system.
