Purchasing Agent






In our purchasing department, every day is different. The Purchasing Agent will be a part of a dynamic purchasing team ensuring procurement activities are managed in a professional, and cost-effective manner. Tasks include, but are never limited to:

  • Verifying stock availability from current inventories and purchasing for inventory as required.
  • Obtaining price quotations from catalogues and suppliers.
  • Coordinating tool, vehicle, and equipment repairs.
  • Interacting with suppliers on a day to day basis.
  • Maintaining and create new relationships with vendors.
  • Preparing purchase orders using Jonas.
  • Calculating costs of orders.
  • Charging or forward invoices to appropriate accounts.
  • Adhering to company policies and procedures within approval guidelines before issuing orders to suppliers.
  • Processing purchases.
  • Coordinating project purchases with PC’s/PM’s in order to arrive on time.
  • Logistics – arranging freight carriers within Canada and US (internal/external).
  • Tracking the status and delivery of purchases.
  • Resolving delivery and other issues.
  • Preparing and maintain purchasing files, reports and records.
  • Completing and process international purchase orders.
  • Providing back-up support to other purchasers.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in purchasing with education in either purchasing, supply chain management, accounting, business or a related field.
  • Experience in the construction industry is heavily preferred.

  • Experience with Jonas considered an asset.

  • You don't need to cut coupons to find the best price, negotiation is your secret weapon!

  • Foreign exchange isn't a foreign language to you. You are well-versed and comfortable applying it. 

  • Got 99 problems, but Microsoft ain't one (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word are your specialties).

  • Master Communicator (excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills).

  • Cool as a cucumber: you're able to work effectively under tight deadlines and in stressful conditions without breaking a sweat.

  • Professional organizer is your middle name. You can stay on track independently and no detail goes unnoticed.

  • ​Your work ethic is second to none. Determination, reliability and initiative are your forte.

  • Professional Multi-tasker: juggling more than one task at a time doesn't overwhelm you. You complete each task accurately, professionally and on time.

  • You are a highly motivated team player, but working independently doesn't scare you.
